The latest PRS Model: The NF53. With Plate-Style Bridge, Maple Neck and Narrowfield Pickups!

What started with one of Paul Reed Smith’s favorite vintage guitars now results in a brand new PRS model: the NF53. “NF” for Narrowfield Pickups, “53” for 1953, the year of manufacture of that particular vintage guitar.

The PRS NF53 combines the sound and attitude of classic T-style guitars with PRS’ signature attention to detail and modern, thoughtful design. The body of the NF53 is crafted from swamp ash, a wood that, with its bright, clear sound, is a perfect match for a guitar with this slant. This also applies to the bolt-on maple neck, which is also extremely stable and, thanks to the Pattern 53 neck profile, feels very comfortable in the hand.

A set of Narrowfield DD pickups has been chosen for the pickups of the PRS NF53. “DD” stands for Deep Dish, which refers to the deeper bobbins that make room for more turns. The result is a more focused, powerful sound. The most striking thing about these pickups is that they are humbuckers in everything – except in tone! The NF53 has a fierceness and openness that you would only expect from a set of high-quality single coils. The advantage of these Narrowfields is that they don’t hum with overdrive, and they don’t pick up a 60-cycle hum.

The PRS NF53 also features a punchy, direct sounding two-saddle Plate Style bridge, PRS Vintage Style tuners with a new button design and chic bird inlays. Each NF53 comes with a matching PRS Gigbag.

Inspired by one of Paul Reed Smiths vintage guitars from 1953, the PRS NF 53 combines a swamp ash body and 22-fret, 25.5 scale length bolt-on maple neck with maple fretboard with a special set of PRS Narrowfield pickups. The PRS Narrowfield DD (Deep Dish) pickups are made with taller bobbins to fit more winds and extra metal pieces in between the magnets for a more focused, powerful tone.
