In light of his ever-expanding reputation and fan base, Martin collaborated with John Mayer on the creation of a second namesake guitar, one with many of the same attributes as his first OM-28JM Limited Edition, but one that would be more affordable and more widely available in the tradition of the popular Martin 000-28EC Eric Clapton model. This tasteful Orchestra Model exhibits versatility for today’s diverse contemporary musical styles.

What is the difference between the OM and 000?

At first glance you will probably not see the differences between the 000 model and the popular OM or “Orchestra” model. Both Bodyshapes are indeed almost identical, but the differences are in the neck. The 000 has a scale of 24.9″, where the OM has a scale of 25.4″. And you can feel the difference: the string tension is lower at a 000, and all the frets are a little closer together. A second difference is the width of the nut: it is a fraction wider on an OM.
